Service to Society

Service to Society

As people dearly loved by the Father, redeemed by His Son Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit, we acknowledge that God’s love for us in Christ motivates us toward love, care, and concern for those in need. God’s love for us produces love. Love seeks and serves the neighbor. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God (1 John 4:7 ESV).

Service to Society at Orange Lutheran High School is defined as students sharing their time, talents and energies serving the needs of others in their local, national and international communities. During each school year, students must complete a minimum of 20 hours of 'Service to Society,' including participation in Service Day events in the fall semester (Operation Christmas Child) and spring semester (Day of Dreams). Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These shoeboxes go to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Orange Lutheran is dedicated to spreading the gospel message of Jesus Christ throughout the world. Through our involvement with OCC, we give our students and families a first-hand opportunity to play a part in the amazing work that God is doing. During our Fall Service Days, our students, faculty, and staff pack thousands of shoeboxes and collect donations of supplies.

Day of Dreams

Day of Dreams offers a day of fun, learning, and community to students with special needs. On Day of Dreams, students from the participating schools travel on school buses to Orange Lutheran, where they are greeted by OLu students and faculty, as well as balloons and decorations. From that point forward, the activities commence, including dancing, playing basketball, painting, lunch, and other activities with their assigned "buddy," a current OLu junior or senior.
