Financial Aid and Scholarships

OLu Scholarships 2018-19

Orange Lutheran High School is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarship opportunities for the 2018-2019 school year. To be eligible for any scholarship, the student must complete the application in its entirety before March 1, 2018. Please indicate the scholarships you feel you are best suited for and submit the required supplemental requirements as indicated. While parents may support the student in the application process, students are expected to complete the application on their own.  

Funding of scholarships is contingent upon acceptance to Orange Lutheran High School, and students must maintain good attendance and remain in good academic and disciplinary standing to remain eligible. Further, to receive scholarship funds, students agree to promote the mission and core values of Orange Lutheran and agree to the General Scholarship Terms and Conditions.

The following scholarship opportunities are available for the 2018-2019 school year:

  • Partner in Ministry Scholarship

    • For students whose parent or legal guardian work at least 30 hours per week for a qualified Bible-based Christian church and/or school that shares Orange Lutheran's educational and spiritual values.
    • Employment Verification Form (need to submit annually)

    Amount of Scholarship
    • $3,750 annually based on current employment verification
    • NOTE: Association Lutheran Church Members also receive a reduced tuition rate
    • Partner-in-Ministry Scholarship MAY be combined with financial aid and other scholarship awards
  • Lancer Alumni Scholarship

    • For students who have a parent who is an Orange Lutheran Lancer alumni
    • Diploma verification required
    • Priority admissions and registration
    Amount of Scholarship 
    • $500 total (For Freshman year only)
    • Lancer Alumni Scholarship MAY be combined with financial aid and other scholarship awards

When considering an Orange Lutheran High School education, our Financial Aid committee is here to help make it a reality. We are committed to providing a comprehensive need-based program of financial aid along with a broad range of scholarships that make it possible for all admitted students to attend. With over $2.5 million in financial aid plus scholarships distributed annually, Orange Lutheran continues to fulfill its mission and vision of raising up extraordinary young men and women for a Christian life of purpose, service, and leadership.

  • What kind of scholarships and financial aid does Orange Lutheran offer?

    Orange Lutheran's Board of Directors is pleased to earmark $2.5 million annually for need-based financial assisstance. This program assists nearly 350 families. We also offer scholarships. Please see the Scholarships section for more information.
  • Does the financial assistance need to be repaid?

    No, this grant does not need to be repaid. We do insist each family volunteer at least 15 hours at our Orange Lutheran Thrift Shop per student receiving aid. This ministry provides a large portion of funds for our financial assistance program.
  • When do I apply?

    The financial aid application for the 2018-2019 school year will be available beginning Oct. 1, 2017.
  • How do I apply?

    1. Apply through FACTS Grand & Aid
    2. Sign in or create a username & pasword HERE
    3. Under FACTS Grant & Aid, select "Start Application"

    For incoming freshman only
    If applying before January 31, 2018, please submit a copy of your completed 2016 tax return. If applying after January 31, 2018, please submit a copy of your completed 2017 tax return.

    For returning students
    All applicants must submit their completed 2017 tax return. All supporting documentation (Form 1040, all supporting schedules, W-2’s, etc.) will need to be uploaded to FACTS as well.   

    For families with both an incoming freshman AND a returning student
    All applicants must submit their completed 2017 tax return. All supporting documentation (Form 1040, all supporting schedules, W-2’s, etc.) will need to be uploaded to FACTS as well. 
  • When will I receive information about my award?

    We strive to process all financial aid applications as quickly as possible, pending successful completion of the following requirements:
    • Signed Letter of Intent to OLu
    • Receipt of $575 deposit securing your spot
    • Complete receipt of all required financial documents through FACTS
  • What if I have a problem with my application?

    Please contact FACTS at (866) 441-4637 to assist you with your questions.
  • What if I have questions regarding my award or my tuition payment?

    All questions regarding the award and tuition should be directed to the Financial Aid Committee.
  • Is there any consideration made for my student if I work at a parochial school or church?

    Families who work at least 30 hours a week at a qualified Bible-based school and/or church may be eligible to receive the Partner in Ministry Scholarship.
  • What if I do not need financial assistance in the beginning of the year, but our family suffers a major hardship?

    Please contact the Financial Aid Committee, and a staff member will be happy to assist and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
  • Do I need to apply for financial assistance every year?

    Yes. Families must re-apply for financial assistance each year.
  • If I receive assistance, how do I calculate my monthly payments?

    Calculating your Tuition Balance (example based on 2017-2018 tuition rates)
    Upon receipt of your financial aid award, you can estimate your monthly tuition amount.  Your award will be subtracted from the annual tuition rate of either:

    Association         $13,200
    Non-Association    $15,350

    Families receiving need-based financial aid are eligible to make monthly payments at no additional charge. Monthly payments begin May 2017 and continue through April 2018.

    For example, if you are an Association member and receive $2,100 in financial aid, your monthly tuition payment will be:
        Tuition        $13,200
        Less Fin. Aid  ($ 2,100)
        Balance    $11,100 / 12 months = $925.00 per month, starting in May 2017
  • Does financial aid include my textbooks?

    If awarded Financial Aid, textbooks and iPads are not provided by Orange Lutheran High School. We ask that families plan ahead and purchase their own school supplies for the fall semester.
  • Can I use my 529 account to pay for tuition?

    Please refer to our 529 information sheet for all questions regarding 529 Accounts.
