Segelken releases teaser for '18' documentary

Orange Lutheran senior Asher Segelken is in the process of creating a documentary focused on the teenage plight.
Over the summer, Orange Lutheran senior and aspiring filmmaker Asher Segelken was in production for his upcoming documentary, 18.
"Itss purpose is to capture the essence of what it means to grow up through interviews of 18 recently graduated 18-year olds," said Segelken. "Post production is coming along really well and I’m planning to release it early next year. The film is feature length and looking to be about 90 minutes."
Segelken said that a few things sparked the project, the first of which was his desire to do a coming of age film before he left high school.
"Also, I had a few scripts in the works that weren’t ready to be executed and then God gave me the idea to interview 18 eighteen year olds on what it means to grow up," he added.
Over the summer, Segelken interviewed kids across 15 different states and traveled through approximately 20 states along the way.
Stories touch on topics from weight loss, dealing with divorce, family deterioration and social tensions, each of those topics contributing to how the interviewee views growing up in America.
