OLu arts makes splash at MACY Awards

Orange Lutheran's Anthony Skillman took home the award for Best Actor at the 45th MACY Awards on Sunday.

Orange Lutheran enjoyed a special day at Sunday's 45th MACY Awards, held at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, highlighted by senior Anthony Skillman receiving the award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Tarzan in Tarzan the Musical. Skillman put a cap on the honor by performing "Everything That I Am" in front of a sold out audience and receiving a standing ovation.

Skillman now moves on to New York City to compete on a Broadway Stage at the national level. He becomes the 5th MACY recipient to win and go on to NYC.
 
In addition to Skillman, many of the Tarzan cast members were recognized. Below is the full list:

Lastly, Tarzan the Musical was awarded the "Spectacular Epic Award." 
 
 
In addition to Tarzan, the cast of Footloose also made an impression.
 
Jeremy Thulemeyer took home the award for "Best Comedian" for his portrayal of Willard in Footloose. He was also nominated for the award for his portrayal of Terk in Tarzan.
Sarah Pierce was also as "Best Dramatic Actress" and Natalie Conn "Best Female Dancer."
