A standard of excellence

Orange Lutheran receives highest accreditation rating from Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC)

The Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC), one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States, has announced that Orange Lutheran High School is the recipient of the highest accreditation rating possible of six years through June 2019. Granted by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, the honor was a result of an 18-month long, across-the-board self study and analysis by members representing the entire Orange Lutheran community including students, faculty, staff, coaches, parents, administration, advisory council and the board of directors. The detailed self-study was followed by a three-day visit in April from a six-member WASC Visiting Committee comprised of top educators and administrators from around the country.

The visiting committee was impressed with the wide-ranging culture of excellence at Orange Lutheran, the overall operation of the school and the pride and passion of students, faculty and staff that is tangibly felt when walking the halls. Specifically, the committee noted strengths as a school in the following areas: Orange Lutheran's organization of student learning; Orange Lutheran's support for student, personal and academic growth; Orange Lutheran's curriculum, instruction and assessment techniques and how Orange Lutheran develops and utilizes its resources.

Dr. Greg Hepner, the chair of the visiting committee enthusiastically declared this to Orange Lutheran's faculty and staff, "...Your action plan is exactly on target and where it needs to be, and we are recommending that the commission accepts your action plan as you designed it."

Principal Leslie Smith could not be more proud of this accomplishment, "Orange Lutheran sets the highest standards for Christian character development, academics, and competition and performance, and this is validation that WASC overwhelmingly confirms our approach. What this also means is our intentional and strategic approach to student learning, the overall Lancer experience and our internal checks and balances are yielding the best 'students first' culture possible."
