On the shoulders of giants

Orange Lutheran to induct seven new members into Athletic Hall of Fame on Sunday, April 21, 2013
The Orange Lutheran Athletics Hall of Fame is designed to celebrate the rich tradition of competition and achievement at Orange Lutheran High School. For every touchdown, three-pointer, goal, home run or record-breaking sprint today, there was one that laid the groundwork years before. These milestones are the drivers for the ambitious next generation of Lancers. The Athletics Hall of Fame acknowledges the “shoulders of giants” that the athletes of today stand upon.
Congratulations to the 2013 inductees:
  • Gaylord Greene '88
  • Michael Fleischli '88
  • Elizabeth Reed Bonsangue '89
  • Renee Wright Matheson '91
  • Joe Juliano '95
  • Laura Miklos Crawford '01
  • Jerry Simmons - Coach
All nominees must have met or exceeded two very specific criteria. First, they must have achieved an “All-CIF” or its equivalent honor in one or more sports while at Orange Lutheran High School. Secondly, they must have graduated more than 10 years prior to their potential induction year. To date, we have over 250 athletes that have achieved this.
In early 2010, with the encouragement and support of school coaches and administrators, the alumni board began the difficult task of nominating an inaugural class. Those nominees were presented to the entire alumni population in the fall of 2010, who then voiced their support through an online survey. This process was repeated in the fall of 2012 for this induction.
The final selection process considered a multitude of factors such as level of achievement, number of sports, records broken and athletic impact at Orange Lutheran.

The Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place once every two years, with an induction class of five to seven alumni and one coach, administrator or team. This year's vent will take place on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Orange Lutheran beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person.
