Orange Lutheran Issues Divine Call for New Executive Director

Tom Gray '78, Chair of the Executive Director Search Committee
On Monday, April 29, 2019, the Board of Directors of Orange Lutheran High School officially issued a Divine Call to Dr. Mary Scott to serve as Orange Lutheran High School's next CEO/Executive Director.

The Call comes after an extensive nationwide search conducted over the past eight months.  Dr. Scott currently serves as the Head of School at Concordia International School in Shanghai, China.  In that role, Mary serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Pre-K through 12th-grade international school that boasts over 1,310 students and an annual budget of $60 million.  She has served in this role for the past three years.  Prior to serving in China, Mary served at Concordia University in Irvine, California for over 30 years in increasingly responsible positions.  At CUI, Dr. Scott began as a Physical Education Instructor and Coach and ended her tenure serving as the Executive Vice President and Provost, the second highest position at the university and the highest academic position on campus.
Mary has an impressive academic background with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration and a Doctorate of Education in Institutional Management.  She is a Commissioned Minister of Religion in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
The Executive Director search began in September 2018 after Orange Lutheran's current Executive Director, Todd Moritz, informed the Board he would be leaving his position at the end of this school year, June 30, 2019.  A Search Committee was immediately established consisting of members of the Board of Directors, faculty, staff and the Lancers community.  An open, fair and thorough search was conducted, with over forty men and women considered.  Six candidates were selected as finalists and all were interviewed in person by the committee.  The Search Committee and Board of Directors are confident and unanimous in its decision to issue this Call to Dr. Scott.
Dr. Scott and her husband, Dr. Dan Scott continue to own a home in Orange County. They have three daughters. They are members of Christ Lutheran Church in Costa Mesa and worship there when they are in Southern California.
Please join us in praying for the Scott Family and the entire Orange Lutheran community.
