Counseling & College Planning

Orange Lutheran is focused on helping students discover their strengths and unique gifts so that they can become well-rounded college applicants, prepared for college and life beyond high school. Our commitment to providing specialized counseling, college planning, and career advisement includes a highly qualified team that includes a Director, Associate Director, and nine full-time counselors. Specifically, we provide freshman-only counselors whose expertise is focused on the needs of a 9th grader transitioning to high school, such as managing a schedule with increased rigor, dealing with changing peer groups, and getting connected through activities on-campus. Our 10th-12th grade counselors focus on the needs of upperclassmen, which is increasingly geared towards college planning; all juniors and seniors receive one-on-one college planning appointments.  We also offer a wide variety of support services including grade-level seminars, practice SAT and ACT testing, and free SAT and ACT test preparation via Naviance Student. Our international counselor focuses on the unique needs of a student transitioning to not only a new high school but also a new culture.
Orange Lutheran is committed to giving every student the support they need to choose a college or university that best fits them academically, socially, and spiritually. The Counseling & College Planning Department is available to students and parents in several ways:

  • Assist students with the college decision-making process, including individual college planning appointments to help students find the college or university that is right for them
  • Counsel students regarding relevant testing (SAT, ACT, etc.) procedures and dates as well as providing practice test opportunities
  • Provide comprehensive college planning seminars for each grade level as well as seminars on topics such as college athletics, college financial aid, and transitioning to college
