The Academies of Orange Lutheran

NEW ACADEMIES STARTING IN THE FALL OF 2025. The Academies at Orange Lutheran require a combination of specialized coursework, experiential learning, service learning, and a capstone project. The experiential and service learning components are specifically designed to deepen student learning through personal application and to broaden perspective in keeping with the OLu vision to provide “transformational learning and life experiences to prepare the Lancer community to serve the people of the world.” Each academy provides differentiated concentrations from which students may choose their area of passion, interest and study.

For students interested in careers in law enforcement or firefighting, Orange Lutheran’s First Responders Academy (FRA) offers a high school experience like no other. By dividing coursework between online and on-campus classes, Academy students can take advantage of experiential learning opportunities in the First Responder field of their interest without missing the Christ-centered education, social events, academic support, counselors, teachers, activities, and campus facilities that only Orange Lutheran can offer.

ACADEMY REQUIREMENTS

Each Orange Lutheran Academy provides differentiated concentrations from which students may choose their area of passion, interest and study.  Specialized coursework will often fit within the allotted elective credits needed to meet graduation requirements.  However, some students may choose to take additional credits as part of their area of study.  Each academy requires 20 hours of experiential learning and 5 hours of service learning annually.  Academies offer several opportunities each year to complete experiential and service learning hours, and students may also speak with their Academy Director for approval of individualized hours directed toward their areas of interest.  Students must meet all academy requirements to receive an Academy Endorsement on the student transcript.

HOW TO APPLY

Admission to an academy requires a separate application. To be accepted into an academy, students must meet the GPA requirements for that academy and be in good standing within their school.  Academy applications open in January of each academic year. The application for the 2025 – 2026 school year will be available in January 2025.
