Service to Society

The Christian life includes acts of love and service to others. As people dearly loved by the Father, redeemed by His Son Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit, we acknowledge that God’s love for us in Christ motivates us toward love, care, and concern for those in need. God’s love for us produces love. Love seeks and serves the neighbor. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God (1 John 4:7 ESV).

Thus, Service to Society at Orange Lutheran High School is defined as: Students sharing their time, talents and energies serving the needs of others in their local, national and international communities.

During each school year, students must complete a minimum of 20 hours of 'Service to Society,' including participation in one Service Day event during the year, which will count for five hours.

For more information on Service to Society, please visit the community page on myOLu Blackboard.

Service to Society requirements are found HERE.

Service to Society Procedures

OLu uses an online tracking and reporting system for all Service hours called x2VOL. This system allows for electronic tracking and centralized information.

x2VOL will allow students to enter their Community Service hours online at any time as well as check for any volunteer opportunities, sign up for service opportunities, and receive reminders about those opportunities signed up for. Additionally, x2VOL provides the ability to print a service hour log that can be used for college applications.

Instructions:
  • x2VOL is found through Naviance Family Connection
  • Sign into Naviance Family Connection using your student school email and passwordhttps://connection.naviance.com/family-connection/auth/login/?hsid=lhsoc
  • Click on the x2VOL link under the Resources on the left hand side of your screen in Family Connection.
  • Complete your x2VOL profile the first time you access x2VOL, then go to the Dashboard tab to log your hours and find opportunities to volunteer.
