Student Life

Service to Society

The Christian life includes acts of love and service to others. As people dearly loved by the Father, redeemed by His Son Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit, we acknowledge that God’s love for us in Christ motivates us toward love, care, and concern for those in need. God’s love for us produces love. Love seeks and serves the neighbor. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God (1 John 4:7 ESV).

Thus, Service to Society at Orange Lutheran High School is defined as: Students sharing their time, talents and energies serving the needs of others in their local, national and international communities.

During each school year, students must complete a minimum of 20 hours of 'Service to Society,' including participation in one Service Day event during the year, which will count for five hours.

For more information on Service to Society, please visit the community page on myOLu Blackboard.

Service to Society Procedures

Students,

OLu is going Green!  We are now using an online tracking and reporting system for all Service hours called x2VOL.  This system will allow us to eliminate our paper forms and centralize the information.  x2VOL will allow you to enter your Community Service hours online at any time as well as check for any volunteer opportunities, sign up for them, and receive reminders about those opportunities you sign up for. Additionally, you can print a service hour log that can be used for college applications.

To check your service hours, follow the steps below:

     1) Log into Powerschool

     2) Click the arrow on the upper right hand corner of your Powerschool
          homepage.

     3) Click the link for x2VOL

     4) Complete the registration process if you have not done so. Click Submit.

     5) To add your service hours, Click on the "Add Hours" button.
         Then "Create New."

     6) To view your service hours, Click on the "Service History" button.
