“At the end of the day, my books are Bible studies.”

Orange Lutheran High School is a unique place to learn, work, serve, pray, and play simply because of the people in its community. The school exists to help students internalize the gospel message of salvation in Christ Jesus and is committed to providing excellence in Christian character development, academics, competition, and performance. In her second year here at OLu as an English instructor, Sharon Elliott is a shining example of this faithful environment.

Sharon has been a passionate teacher for 27 years, but describing her with a singular title would be a complete disservice. In addition to her primary duties at Orange Lutheran that she describes as “keeping herself young,” Elliott brings a wealth of real-world expertise every day into her classroom. She has been the founder and CEO of three different companies headlined by Life That Matters Ministries – a Christian organization that exists to encourage the discovery of life’s purpose and the fulfillment of potential.

“I want my life to count, and I know you want yours to make a difference. I encourage all to think Biblically, speak intelligently, work passionately, act responsibly, love unconditionally, and most of all, live significantly,” Sharon adds.

To achieve these goals not only for herself, but more importantly for others, Elliott conducts seminars, speaks at conferences, produces podcasts, writes a daily devotional blog, and is the author of nine books:

Power Suit: The Armor of God Fit for the Feminine Frame
Habit to Heart: Praying Real Prayers to a Prayer-loving God
Living a Milk & Honey Life: Letting Go of What’s Holding You Back
Bible Seeds for Enriching Your Character: A Simple Study-Devotional for Growing in God’s Word (Sharon wrote 1/3 of the devotions)
Raising Boys to Be Like Jesus
The Stupid Term Paper: How to Plan It, Write It, and Get an “A” on It
What? Teenagers in the Bible? The Bible’s Teen Speak to Teens Today
Me? Virtuous?: A Study of Proverbs 31
Martin Luther King Jr.: The Pastor who had a Daring Dream

If all that does not keep her busy enough, Elliott also manages the production of Cornerstone, Orange Lutheran’s student magazine, and is the academic coach for the boys’ varsity basketball team.

Elliott reflects, “What I admire about Orange Lutheran is how hard we work for our students, and I see that students appreciate our effort.”

A loving wife and nurturing mother of five in her blended family, Elliott loves where she is in life, “I believe in Christian education. I can’t imagine teaching anything apart from the truth of the reality of God and His interaction in our lives.”

Well said Sharon, well said – but coming from this enthusiastic follower of the Lord, teacher, mother, wife, CEO, and coach, no one is surprised that you have a great perspective.
