Grammy nominated South African gospel singer JONATHAN BUTLER has signed on to be the guest performer at the 2010 Power of the Dream Gala to be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010.

The Gala, the only all-school fundraising event, benefits all students.  Proceeds from the event go to programs in academics, service, leadership, athletics and arts at Orange Lutheran.  It features both silent and live auctions, cuisine by “Thank Goodness its Sophia” catering, and a live performance on the Nechita Center stage -which includes student performers and speakers, and concludes with Butler.

Butler joins an impressive list of award winning performers who have joined the evening’s festivities in the past including Crystal Lewis, Alan Thicke, Siedah Garret, and Davis Gaines.

Two-time Grammy nominated singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer, Jonathan Butler has led a life few could imagine.  Born under the shadow of South African apartheid and raised in poverty, Butler, while still in his teens became the first non-white artist to be played on white mainstream radio and appear on national television.

Nelson Mandela credits Butler’s music as having inspired him during his longs days of imprisonment.  Now, with three decades of international acclaim under his belt, Butler is a testament to believing n ones self and refusing to let circumstance decide fate.
