AP & Honors Courses

With 16 Advanced Placement and 18 Honors courses offered, Orange Lutheran students can find plenty to challenge them in our curriculum.

Online Options

Orange Lutheran students have access to our innovative approach to online education, Orange Lutheran Online (OLO). Studies can be crafted to fit students' individual needs - they can take all their courses online or choose a "blended" model with half online and half on-campus courses. Students can even take a single class online to free up their schedule for extracurricular activities. Orange Lutheran Online mirrors the same high quality academic structure as a traditional classroom, but offers a collaborative, yet flexible format.

STEM Program

Through partnerships with local firms and universities and exclusive opportunities for real-world experience, Orange Lutheran's STEM PROGRAM engages students' interests in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math inspires and prepares them to pursue majors and careers in those areas. Typical STEM students will graduate with a 4.5 GPA, an SAT score of 1950, and six AP classes.

Department of Special Programs and Services (DSPS)

Orange Lutheran's DSPS Program meets the needs of students with learning disabilities and other special instructional requirements, fostering academic growth through reasonable accomodations in curriculum and classroom expectations. Courses in the DSPS Program help students reach their graduation goals through adaptations in reading level, research expectations, and notetaking requirements.

Orange Lutheran provides for an unsurpassed academic experience.  We believe in teaching students the fundamentals of a college prep program, but wrapped in an environment where we develop life-long learners, nurture creative talents, and encourage effective communication skills.  On a typical day, one will find students testing a robot before an upcoming competition, creating a unique piece of art from an old pair of blue jeans, or using an Ipad to collaborate on a presentation for AP World History.  Students in every discipline are given the opportunity and motivation to forge passions and to best use their God-given talents.

Curriculum

Blessed with a diverse group of students, Orange Lutheran strives to produce a curriculum that simultaneously engages our student’s creativity and also exceeds the qualifications to our nation’s finest universities.  We teach and assess for understanding, as we develop a student’s critical thinking abilities.   Teachers participate in weekly Learning Teams, where the main filter that is incorporated is “What does the student need?”  Infusing all areas with a Christian world-view creates an unsurpassed educational experience.  Our commitment to quality academics is reflected in our list of college acceptances and matriculation.

Innovation in Learning

Orange Lutheran is proud of its reputation as an innovator in learning. Students have access to Orange Lutheran Online, our unique approach to online learning. We use an online gradebook that parents and students can access from home to track their academic progress, and our academic web portal, myOLu, makes class assignments and other information available anytime, wherever there is an internet connection.

Teachers, meanwhile, devote time in weekly meetings based on Pearson's Learning Teams model to jointly identify areas of student need, refine their teaching and produce better student results.

Individualized Guidance & Instruction

At Orange Lutheran, we know that no two students are alike, which is why we tailor our guidance and instruction to serve our students' individual needs. For students with learning disabilities, our Resource Program provides additional instruction and helps make reasonable accomodations in students' classes. Students wanting to get a head start on their college studies have 27 Honors and AP available to them, and offerings like our STEM Program match unique learning and career opportunities to student interests and talents.
