Annual Fund FAQs

Where exactly is my money going?
Gifts to the Annual Fund go directly into the day-to-day operations of the school. Tuition only covers about 85% of Orange Lutheran's annual operating expenses. Your gift to the Annual Fund helps bridge that gap and provides agility in our pursuit of Christ-centered educational excellence.

Why not raise tuition?
No private school could charge the full cost of educating its students without pricing itself out of the market. That's why every private school has an Annual Fund appeal. In addition, tuition is a non-tax-deductible contribution to the school, while gifts to the Annual Fund are fully tax-deductible.

What if I don't have much to give?
Every gift counts. Maximizing participation is our goal this year, and participation is a key indicator to foundation and corporate donors that we have consistent support from those we serve, both past and present. You can help with a gift of any size.

Can I designate my gift to a specific department, program or sport?
The Annual Fund is the foundation of philanthropy at Orange Lutheran.  Gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted, meaning they go to support programs and initiatives that are school-wide and benefit all students.  So while we welcome all gifts to the school and will honor your gift restrictions, we encourage you to give an unrestricted gift to maximize the impact of the Annual Fund.

Can I use my credit card?
Yes. You can make a gift using any major credit card through Paypal at lhsoc.org/annualfund. (Credit card gifts made on the response card you received with your Annual Fund letter are limited to Visa and MasterCard.)

How do I find out if my employer matches my gift to the Annual Fund?
Use this link to search a database of companies that match gifts. If your company is not listed, please check with your Human Resources department.

I want to give a certain amount, but I can only give it in monthly installments; is that possible?
Yes.  Through the Annual Fund's online giving, you can set up monthly payments, for the amount of your choice, with your credit card through PayPal.
