Frequently Asked Questions
Should my student apply even though we’re not Lutheran?
Lutheran High School of Orange County admits students from a variety of religious and ethnic backgrounds.
When do we start the application process?
We begin the application process in the fall of the student's 8th grade year (for incoming 9th graders). We will host a Prospective Student Open House on our campus on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Details about the application process will be available at that time, and so will our faculty, staff, and coaches. If you have a current 9th, 10th or 11th grade student interested in transferring, you are welcome to join us on the 2nd as well.
When will my student find out if he/she has been admitted?
For the 2012/2013 2 school year, acceptance letters will be mailed out beginning Friday, February 1, 2012.
How many freshmen students will be admitted?
In recent years, our incoming classes were the largest ever at Orange Lutheran: 350. We hope to be able to admit the same number for the 2012/2013 school year.
Do you offer financial aid?
Lutheran High School of Orange County has a need-based financial aid program. Additional information can be found at the following link: http://www.lhsoc.org/FinancialAid. Please contact our Student Accounts office at 714/998-5151 x. 667 if you require additional assistance.
Do freshmen applicants have to take an entrance exam?
Applicants to LHSOC need only take a placement test. These are offered on January 7, 2012 and January 21, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This test is administered for placement purposes only, not for admission. If your student has special learning needs and requires accommodations, please contact the admissions office at 714/998-5151 x603.
What happens if my student wasn’t able to come to the Open House?
We hoped all prospective students would have been able to join us at our Open House to meet our faculty, staff and coaches and see our beautiful campus. However, we understand that there may be other pressing matters for your family. Campus Tours are available. Please call the Admissions Office at 714/998-5151 x. 603 to reserve a spot.
